interCaribbean Airways founded 32 years ago, is proud to have grown to become the largest privately held airline in the Caribbean.   Meet the management of the company below.

Lyndon R Gardiner

Founder and Chairman

Lyndon Gardiner, the Founder and Chairman of interCaribbean Airways, has a long and accomplished career in the aviation industry. Raised in Bottle Creek, North Caicos (Turks and Caicos Islands), Gardiner’s passion for aviation was deeply rooted in his childhood, with his eldest brother, Manville ‘Donnie’ Gardiner, who was an air traffic controller and pilot, serving as a major influence in his life.

Gardiner’s journey in aviation began in 1987 when he experienced the difficulties of getting flights to the Dominican Republic from the Turks & Caicos. He learned to fly and obtained his pilot’s license. He subsequently started an informal, but popular, air taxi service around the Turks and Caicos and neighboring Islands, which eventually grew into a chartered fleet. By 1992, he had obtained the commercial Air Operator’s Certificate for the business he named InterIsland Airways.

In 2001, he created an FBO to serve the private jets that were beginning to frequent Turks & Caicos Islands, called Provo Air Center. With world-class facilities and award-winning service, Provo Air Center is now one of the busiest FBOs in the Caribbean and has been named Best Caribbean FBO by Aviation International News (AIN) 5 times.

By 2003, Gardiner had acquired more planes, and expanded the airline, renaming it Air Turks & Caicos. Ten years later, in 2013, with further expansion, he rebranded the business to “interCaribbean Airways” to reflect his vision, market, and mission for Caribbean travel.

Over the years, with an intent to bridge the inter-connectivity among the islands, Gardiner saw the need and the opportunity to provide a stronger Caribbean-wide network. In 2020, following the void in the regional air travel industry brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, interCaribbean expanded south to Barbados, Grenada, St. Vincent, St. Lucia, Guyana, and Dominica.

Over the course of its 32-year history, interCaribbean Airways has grown to become the largest privately-owned airline in the Caribbean. It operates a fleet of 20 plus airplanes to and from 28 cities in 17 countries across the Caribbean.

Mr. Gardiner is also the founder and Chairman of InterIsland Aviation Services Group, whose companies include interCaribbean Airways, Caribbean Aviation Maintenance Services, Provo Air Center, and FlightSupport Ltd.

Gardiner’s journey is a testament to the power of hard work, determination, and perseverance. His vision for interCaribbean Airways has been to connect the Caribbean islands by providing a stronger Caribbean-wide travel network, which he has achieved, and on which he continues to expand.

Mr Gardiner is also a philanthropist who enjoys mentoring young people, and avails himself of opportunities to give back to the region that has given him so much.
