Ramp Operations Manager

Job Description

The Ramp Manager is responsible for all ramp operations and must be able to manage a large multicultural group of employees, ensuring all airlines are handled in a safe, reliable environment.

The handling of each aircraft must be done efficiently, reliably for a perfect on-time performance record.

The Manager’s leadership skills play a critical safety role in accidents/incidents avoidance on the ramp by the level of professionalism displayed in performing the task.

  • Provide clear direction and support to the team.
  • Must be able to change plans mid-shift in a dynamic changing environment to meet the airline changes and schedules.
  • Must be flexible with work hours.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage, lead, and supervise a team of ramp agents who are culturally diverse.
  • Assign and prioritize ramp operational tasks based on arrival and departure times.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to the ramp team to ensure the highest level of safety and compliance with operational standards.
  •  Conduct evaluations annually based on performance attendance and skills and provide  critical feed back to inspire growth. 
  • Ensure full training schedule and compliance..
  • Co-ordinate and manage corrective action plans for employee development.
  • Work closely with the ground support equipment mechanics to repair and  suggest maintenance schedules in response to changing flight activity needs.
  • Co-ordinate weekly supplies /orders with the purchasing team for adequate servicing of all aircraft.
  • Prepare regular reports on ground support equipment condition

Compliance and Safety Standards

  • Enforce safety policies and procedures and ensure that all ramp activities comply with airport and airline policies and procedures.
  • Conduct safety meetings monthly for leadership personnel and ensure that all safety protocols are followed during all airport activities.
  • Investigate and report any accidents and provide a corrective action plan, including root cause analysis using company software (Safety culture).
  •  Must be able to maintain safety management system contributions and compliance.

Key Financial Targets

  •  Manage overtime and employee productivity per flight activity.
  • Manage employee utilization shifts based on flight activity
  • Meet financial targets on spending.
  •  Identify opportunities to reduce costs without compromising safety and security.

Coaching and Counseling

  • Meet with employees to assist their growth and development through a coaching and counseling process.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or Associate degree in Management or other related field of study from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • 2 to 5 years of Aviation experience, or related field, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with all teams across the group of companies.
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to operate ground equipment as required.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office.
  • Must have a valid passport.
  • Must have a clean police record and be willing to relocate to the Turks and Caicos Islands.
  • Must be able to work outside on the ramp.
  • Remuneration will be commensurate with experience.
