Advisory#1 – Aug 21, 2023 5:25pm.
Based on the current track forecast, a tropical storm warning has been issued for the entire southern coastline of Haiti and the Dominican Republic (Hispaniola Island). Tropical Storm Franklin is expected to bring tropical storm conditions to portions of the Dominican Republic and Haiti beginning on Tuesday 22-AUG-2023 where Tropical Storm Warnings are in effect. The tropical storm is forecast to pass over that island Tuesday night (22-AUG), and then move off the north coast of Hispaniola by early Wednesday 23-AUG. Interaction with the mountainous terrain of Hispaniola is expected to cause some weakening. This weather disturbance has a small chance of becoming a hurricane based on the weather centers. Franklin will not directly hit the Turks and Caicos Islands as it moves North to Northeast.
interCaribbean continues monitoring this tropical storm and will issue a second update as soon as we have information on the status of flights (delayed or cancelled) due to the passing of the storm in the Dominican Republic, Haiti and possibly the Turks and Caicos Islands.
