Providenciales, Turks and Caicos – Wednesday March 05, 2025 – Travelers planning to visit the United Kingdom should be aware of an important change in immigration entry requirements. Starting from March 5, 2025, eligible European nationals can apply for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA). From April 2, 2025, all eligible European visitors will be required to have an ETA to travel to or transit (landside) through the UK. For all non-European citizens, this process began on January 8, 2025.
Who needs an ETA
Except British and Irish Citizens, everyone, including children, who enters or transits through the UK require permission before they travel. This means those who were previously eligible to visit the UK without a Visa and are not already legally a resident in the UK, will need an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA). However, individuals who already require a visa or those exempt from immigration control do not need to obtain an ETA.
How to apply
Applying for an ETA is a quick and straightforward process through the UK ETA app or online at GOV.UK. The application fee is £10 when using the official app or website, but other websites may charge higher fees. Decisions are typically made within three working days, though most applicants receive a response much sooner. Please note that the fee is non-refundable once the application is submitted. For more information, visit the official GOV.UK website.
