interCaribbean Airways Flight JY634 Air Returns to V.C. Bird Airport

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos – March 13, 2024 – interCaribbean Airways wishes to inform the public of an event involving one of our aircraft, Flight JY634, scheduled from Antigua (ANU) to Tortola (EIS) on Wednesday, March 13, 2024. The flight, carrying 36 passengers, safely returned to V.C. Bird International Airport in Antigua shortly after takeoff due to an engine warning indication.

Minutes after takeoff, the crew of Flight JY634 detected abnormal indications with the left side engine, prompting the captain to shut the engine down and return to Antigua where the aircraft landed safely.

As per standard protocols, the crew declared an emergency, ensuring the flight could get priority handling at the airport where emergency fire services were dispatched to the runway, though no fire incident occurred. All passengers and crew remained safe throughout the event.

interCaribbean Airways is committed to the safety of our customers and crew, which remains our highest priority. Our engineering team is working to identify the issue for rectification before the aircraft can be returned to service.

All customers from Flight JY634 have been provided accommodations in Antigua for the night, and alternative flight arrangements have been made to transport them to their destination. interCaribbean Airways remains committed to providing the necessary assistance and addressing their needs throughout this process.

We understand the concerns such incidents may raise and assure the public that we are devoted to continually maintaining and enhancing our operational and safety standards.
